American Undergraduate and Gradaute StudiesBachelor's and Master's degreesThe Bachelor's program is the first level of the American university system. It corresponds to four years of study after high school. It is validated with 120 credits or the equivalent of 180 European ECTS credits. This is known as "undergraduate" studies and is a combination of général studies and specialised studies in one's major. The American Master's degree is the equivalent to the European Master's degree and is obtained after the undergraduate degree. This is known as "graduate" studies.
How university studies are organizedUniversity studies are organized by semester and function through the accumulation of credits. Students enroll for a certain number of credits each semester and are tested and graded regularly.
Choice of MajorsThe American system is very different from the French system in that it gives students more freedom when they choose their Majors (specializations). The program is made up of both general subjects and specialized subjects.
